KBN funds its operations through the capital markets, and does so with an international focus. In 2009, more than 95% of funding was raised outside Norway through 508 individual transactions in 15 different currencies, amounting to USD 15 billion equivalent.
The objective of KBN’s funding operations is to meet growing borrowing requirements with a well diversified funding base, effectively achieved by regular issuance of benchmark transactions, a visible presence in institutional niche markets and by being one of the most flexible borrowers in the market for structured private placements. KBN aims to develop its name recognition in the retail market and is a frequent issuer in the Japanese Uridashi market, via its sovereign shelf registration.
